Honey bee

Imagine you’re me, you get up and go to work, click clack at your desk, join a meeting, get up to use the bathroom, you go to wash your hands and only after lathering the soap into your palms do you realize that there’s a honeycomb printed on the new soap bottle. You’re (I’m) allergic to honey…..

I’d forgotten to take a claritin for my seasonal allergies in the morning (even though my partner reminded me), so the reaction to the honey was instant. Redness, itching, white dots, some swelling, the works. My boss sent me to urgent care, urgent care sent me home. A friend who lives near my office kindly let me take her benadryl cream home, and off I went to try and mitigate my hives. Yes, honey gives me hives, the irony is not lost on me ╥﹏╥

So here I am, a few weeks away from that mess, with fully functional hands again. Though honestly, sitting here staring blankly at my screen you’d think my hands were still useless and itchy. Blogging has me writing creatively more than I ever have before, and it’s a part of myself I’m excited to finally explore. During my downtime I’ve been reading about how to write fiction, taking a crack at the exercises at the end of each chapter, and reading up on writing tips every chance I get. There’s so many things to consider when writing a narrative, and though I’m just writing about me at the moment, I want to eventually write stories.

Maybe under a pen name, maybe as myself, I guess it depends on if I ever even sit down and start! For now I’ll keep jotting down ideas and learning how to ‘craft narratives,’ sharing my thoughts here from time to time.
